When two (or more) people can't resolve something without going to court, mediation can be a much more satisfying, less costly approach. In the state of Texas, judges often refer parties to mediation prior to court proceedings, as a preferred alternative to court. Studies have shown that when people have a say in the outcome, agreements are more successful.
My formal intensive training in Basic Mediation took place in March of 1999, at the Dispute Resolution Center in Austin. Following this, I received my Family Mediation Training in July of 1999, and have been furthering my advanced education in this field aggressively. I continue to volunteer my services as a mediator at the DRC and serve as a coach in the 40-hour mediation trainings provided by Corder/Thompson and Associates. Additionally, I have served on the boards of Texas Mediator Credentialing Association and Texas Association of Mediators, and am the current President of the Austin Association of Mediators.
